We love colour trends here at Pure Invitation, knowing which colours are going to be popular each year and the reasons behind why (both scientifically and emotionally) really excites us and obviously helps steer our design team when creating new wedding invitation designs.
When it comes to weddings there are some colours that just stand the test of time however and are the choice of thousands, if not millions, of couples worldwide for their big day. In this new series we’ll be taking a closer look at some of the classic wedding colour themes, providing inspiration for anyone planning their nuptials.
First up we have, blue.
Now although it’s a classic, timeless choice blue regularly has its moment in the trend spotlight. Back in 2021 Pantone announced their Very Peri shade, a blue-purple hue, was its colour of 2022 describing it as a “warm and friendly blue hue with a carefree confidence and joyful attitude”. By choosing it as their colour of year they joined a long list of experts predicting that blue would be a big colour trend for next year.
We know Prussian Blue will feature in many spring / summer weddings this year thanks to the Bridgerton influence and trend forecasters WGSN and Coloro predict ocean-like Atlantic Blue to be one of *the* colours for this year also.
So if you’re thinking of planning a blue themed wedding this year it seems you’re not only going to hit the classic and elegant tick boxes, but also the colour of the moment box too. Win win!

Pale blue hydrangeas work beautifully for all styles of weddings but particularly country garden weddings, as shown here. Hydrangeas work brilliantly when you want to create an impact, both when used in quantity like here or more pared back for a bouquet or buttonhole. They get our vote every time!
