Invitation Trends

It all starts with the envelope

In the last couple of years we have seen the envelope grow in importance as an integral part of the invitation suite as opposed to just the carrier of it and in 2023 envelopes really will come to the forefront. Printed liners, different colours and textures, envelope seals…all this and more will become the norm and allow couples to wow as soon as their invitations hit the doormat.

Font focus

The trend for clean fonts will continue to be popular, especially when combined with a more dramatic, calligraphy text creating a modern but ultimately romantic feel.

The devil is in the detail

Every organised human will know – whether you’re organising a wedding or not – that the devil is in the detail. We’ve seen an increase in couples wanting to add more and more luxe details to their invitation suites to help make them stand out and feel really unique to them. From wax seals, to printed vellum jackets and personalised belly bands this trend will really explode in 2023.

All the shapes

Whilst there will always be a place for the more traditional shapes used for wedding invitations, in 2023 we’re predicting a huge surge in demand for different shapes. Think circular, triangular and geometric – waves even! We love the endless possibilities and the modern and stylish feel shaped invitations and stationery brings.

Hands up for vellum

We detailed the trend for barely-there fabrics in bridal wear in our Top 5 Bridal Dress Trends post last week (read here) and complimenting that we’re seeing a trend for a sense of sheerness in wedding stationery too. Vellum, whether it is used for the invitation itself or as a jacket to hold your invitation suite together in a stylish way, is definitely on the up and brings a modern but soft vibe to any invitation set. It also works beautifully as a backdrop to whatever embellishment you want to add.

Colour Trends

Bold & bright

The 2023 catwalks all featured jewel-like tones which will filter through to the wedding industry next year. Combining pops of colour with the traditional white and neutral shades will create a modern, uplifting vibe, and wedding stationery will reflect the trend too. Vivid colours will be popular, whether it be through a floral or tropical design or choosing one or two bold colours for your colour combination.

Digital lavender

We’ve been talking about Pantone’s colour of the year for 2023, Digital Lavender, for a while now and we fully expect the shade to really shine next year. A pretty and surprisingly versatile colour it works well for bridesmaid dresses and/or accessories, florals, décor and of course stationery.

Classic Neutrals

As much as we love trends here at PureHQ we never overlook the classics. A bold colour trend works best when paired with a neutral base. Think classic white with a pop of pink or a blush pink with a bold green. Take a look at our Pinterest page here for some suggestions of colour combinations.
