We’ve recently launched a new range of acrylic wedding signage – so exciting! – but we realise not everyone will be as clued up as us when it comes to acrylic signs and what they are and how they are used so we’ve written a quick guide.

What is acrylic?

Acrylic, also known as Plexiglass, is a versatile plastic material with a variety of purposes and benefits, available in a spectrum of colors and opacities. Acrylic is super lightweight which makes it a great material for larger projects, including signage.

As well as signage for weddings and events acrylic is used for a wide range of purposes including lenses, acrylic nails, paint, security barriers, medical devices, LCD screens, and furniture. It can also be used for windows, tanks, and exhibition stands.

What acrylic signage does Pure Invitation offer?

We offer a range of acrylic signage that covers the main signage needs for a wedding – welcome signs, order of the day signs and table plans. We also offer a range of smaller acrylic signs that can be customized to your needs, for example for a guest book table, or to display your bar menu.

We offer two types of sign design, a flat print acrylic sign and a 3D raised acrylic sign. A flat print sign is an acrylic board with the design UV printed onto it, creating a beautiful flat finish.

A 3D raised acrylic sign is the same as a flat print sign but with the addition of some elements of the design laser cut in acrylic and affixed onto the sign creating a 3D effect.

Both types are available in A1 or A2 size for the welcome, table plans and order of the day signs. The smaller acrylic signs are available in A5 size.

Similar to our wedding invitations process all of our signs are customisable to your needs. We don’t use set templates so if you love one of the sign designs and want to amend the wording to what we have shown on our imagery you can absolutely do that! Once an order is placed we ask for your wording and then our team of expert proofers will create your personalised digital proof for you to review and approve before we print the sign.

This also allows you to order our signage for any kind of event – not just weddings!

All of the acrylic signs are available in 40 different colours, and you can choose between a high gloss finish or an on-trend matt effect.

All of our signs are designed and produced at our studio facility allowing us to be 100% in control of the process and quality, and all of our signs are covered by the money back guarantee we offer (read here for more details).

How is acrylic signage used at weddings?

It is popular at weddings these days to use signage to help your guests navigate the day as well as really creating the wow factor. It might sound simple but displaying a welcome sign at your venue is an easy way to reassure your guests they are at the right place! An order of the day sign is a great way to easily communicate the key events and timings of your day to everyone, ensuring no-one misses an thing and a table plan (or two dependent on the size of your wedding) is the best way to show people where they are sitting.

Pure Invitation’s wide range of signage (we also offer foam board signage, click here) offers the most varied choice of designs and styles meaning no matter where you’re getting married or your theme there will be a sign perfect for you.

Where should signage be used?

If having signage make sure you’re planning it into your big day, working with your venue and/or wedding planner so everyone is clear where the signage is to go and when. If you’re having a church ceremony with a reception to follow at another venue who will be responsible for taking the welcome sign from the church to the venue? If your whole wedding is at the same venue consider where the signage needs to be displayed. Are there two entrances for example, perhaps requiring two welcome signs?

Another thing to consider is how you’re going to display your signage. Do you want to hang it using a frame? If so we can supply your sign(s) with two holes pre-drilled to allow this.

Or you might want to use an easel or simply rest your signs against something, for example a mantlepiece or haybarns if you’re having a rustic wedding outside.

Our smaller acrylic signs are supplied with a stand making it super easy to display these whether it be on tables, at a reception desk or on a bar.
