Spring Weddings: Twelve Ideas for a Spring Theme

Spring. Such a glorious season for so many reasons not least the abundance of beautiful weddings! If you’re planning a springtime wedding here are twelve ways to incorporate the season into your celebration.

Spring Flowers

Spring is a time for newness and this is reflected in the gorgeous flowers that bloom every year. Incorporate in-season flowers into your wedding like daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and roses for an abundance of beauty and colour but to also ensure your budget goes further. In season = cheaper!

Floral Themed Invitations

Carry the floral theme through to your stationery by choosing floral themed invitations. If your wedding is in spring but you’re sending your invitations in the depths of winter give your guests a glimpse of the freshness to come by sending spring flowers in the form of your invitations.

Help to create the essence of spring on the day itself with floral inspired stationery and signage.

Embrace a Pastel Palette

We can’t talk about spring weddings without including spring pastels! They’re an essential spring wedding colour scheme and done right look simply stunning.

Wear Spring

Make a style statement and choose a floral printed wedding dress, or a dress in a pastel shade. There is so much choice available for brides these days looking for something a bit different and we absolutely love a floral printed dress.

Go Outdoors

Take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather and organise an outdoor ceremony. Just remember to have a plan for probable spring rain showers!

Gorgeous Gypsophila

Using gypsophila is an insider secret for creating an impact cost effectively. Line your aisle with an abundance of the pretty flower to create a stunning walkway, and add it to chairs to tie in the theme.

By Royal Tradition

Lily of the Valley was the favourite flower of her late majesty Queen Elizabeth and has been used for royal weddings for centuries, most recently in Kate and Meghan’s bouquets. It’s in full bloom in spring and has a gorgeous sweet scent so is perfect for a wedding bouquet.

Ga Ga for Gingham

If you’re wanting to fully embrace the spring vibe for your wedding gingham is the perfect print choice for your decor. Use gingham fabrics such as napkins and table runners against a neutral backdrop (to avoid it looking too twee) or use in small touches for example as ribbons around bouquets.

Fresh Fruit

Using fresh fruit to dress your tables and use for centerpieces is a cost effective but stunning décor tip. Lemons are fairly cheap to buy so go big and bundle lots into large glass bowls combined with pretty linens for a gorgeous centerpiece. Take a look at Pinterest for lots more ideas.

Cocktail Hour

The trend for creating bespoke cocktails for your wedding guests continues to grow and there’s no better season than spring for serving pretty cocktails. Use the colours of your wedding as a starting point, if you want to match your spring themed décor, or choose cocktails that mean something to you e.g. your favourites, or what you had on your first date.

Sow the Seed

What better favour to give at a spring wedding than a packet of wildflower seeds? It’s a lovely gift to receive and will remind your guests of your special day when they flower.

Refresh Your Guests

If you’ve opted for an outdoor ceremony and the weather is being kind a self-serve drink station will be very much welcome by your guests. Set up refreshing cucumber water or fruit-infused water for them to help themselves.

Beautiful Baskets

If you’re having flower girls give them pretty baskets to carry – they’ll look adorable and love having something to put their treasures in throughout the day.
