Trend Alert: 2024 Wedding Cake Trends

If you’re planning a 2024 wedding and choosing to have a wedding cake you might be interested to know what the key trends are for next year. Doesn’t hurt to be ahead of the curve!

Waterfall / Spiral Wedding Cakes

This is a trend that has been around for a few years but for 2023 heading into 2024 it’s less about using fresh flowers to create the waterfall effect instead focusing on sugar and/or fondant decorations to ramp things up a notch. Think elaborate handmade elements like sugar flowers creating the wow factor.

Wedding Dress Inspired Cakes

Don’t mistake this trend for having a cake that looks like a dress! It’s about the design of your cake being inspired by elements of your dress. For example replicating the bow of your dress on your cake, or having a ruffled buttercream effect to mimic the ruffles of your dress.

It’s a lovely way to subtly personalise your wedding cake, whilst still making it super stylish.

Lambeth Cakes

The Lambeth cake, which dates back to the early 20th century, is a traditional type of cake decorated with elaborate piping, icing rosettes and other ornate flourishes. Usually in a pastel colour palette of pink, purple, yellow, green or blue the cakes are sometimes topped off with bright red cherries that complete the vintage-inspired look. They’re not to everyone’s taste but we love them!

Ultra Textured Weddings Cakes

Ultra chic and one for the modern couple, monochromatic textured cakes bridge the gap between super simple wedding cakes and the super elaborate masterpieces at the other end of the spectrum.

Texture is created using brush strokes, stencils and palette knives and the end result is a completely unique finish, highly personalised to the couple.

We hope our little round-up of the biggest wedding cake trends for 2024 has given you some inspiration and food (cake) for thought but our advice as always when it comes to trends and your wedding is to go for what you love and want, no matter what the trends are.
